We extend a hearty welcome to you and your family to historic Augustus Lutheran Church. Augustus is the oldest unchanged Lutheran church still in use in the United States of America. The congregation was organized in 1730 and The Reverend Dr Henry Melchior Muhlenburg arrived in November 1742, and then the old church was built in 1743.

Worship is the center of congregational life at Augustus. The Word of God is proclaimed in preaching, music, song and teaching. And the Sacraments are administered.

We welcome all baptized Christians to join us at the Lords Table. As Lutherans, we confess that Christ is truly present in the Sacrament and that the gifts of this Sacrament are the forgiveness of sin and eternal life. Visitors and college students are always welcome at Augustus Church. There is ample parking, and the church is handicapped-accessible with hearing-impaired devices and large print service booklets.
