Christian Education

Our Christian Education programs strive to help people build a personal relationship with Christ, to reach out and make a difference. Our Sunday School program provides classes for grades kindergarten through senior high every Sunday morning during the school year, beginning at 9 a.m. A Muhlenburg Bible Class is available to adults on Sunday morning, beginning at 9 a.m. In addition, our Community Bible Class is held on Monday evenings, at 7:30 p.m. in the Parsonage.

New member orientation class

We have confirmation classes for seventh and eighth graders on Sunday evenings during the school year.

Vacation Bible School is held for children in kindergarten through the sixth grade during the last week in June. Children in older grades are recruited to help with the program.

Youth Ministries

Augustus Lutheran's Youth Group is open to all junior and senior high students from seventh through twelfth grade. The youth meet for monthly fun events. These events are meant to establish friendship among the youth as well as with adult leaders. Examples of activities include rock climbing, bowling, scavenger hunts, community projects and Christmas caroling.

Sunday School worship

The Church also provides multi-generation activities that bring us together as a Christian family. Examples are old-fashioned movie nights, a congregational birthday party, and a bus trip to Washington, DC to visit the National Cathedral and the Franciscan Friars.

Music

Our Adult Choir meets on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. The members of the choir add so much to our worship services each week. The Youth Choir consists of all students involved in the Sunday School program.

Augustus also has two bell choirs, one for youth and the other for adults. The bell choirs use thirty Schulmerich handbells. They provide music monthly during the church worship services.

Service

The Women of ELCA, Social Ministry Committee, Fellowship Class and the Pastor are devoted to the needs of the sick and shut-in; community concerns; local, national and world hunger; and world disaster relief. They collect and distribute food and clothing. At Christmas they decorate a tree with scarves, mittens, and hats, and give them to Silver Springs, a home for emotionally disturbed children.

We also offer our facilities to many community groups: AARP, Cub Scout Pack 87 and Boy Scout Troop 87, Happy Days Day Care and the Collegeville Community Club. We are a community-oriented church.

Women's Ministry

The Women of ELCA are truly about our Father's business in serving and being of service, whenever and wherever called upon. They have three Circles which meet the second Wednesday of the month: the Faith Circle, the Hope Circle, and the Love Circle. Our three circles are involved in all the projects of the church. We pray that our new female members will join us in our endeavors.

Lutheran Church Men

The Men of Augustus meet on the last Sunday of each month, except February, June, July, August and December. The meetings begin at 9:00 a.m., with breakfast followed by a speaker. The speakers' presentations involve a variety of spiritual and community issues.

Prayer Chain

The Prayer Chain ministers to your prayer concerns. If you have a prayer request for yourself or someone you know, please contact the Pastor. Our Chapel is open Monday through Friday for prayer and meditation. It has a Prayer Request Book, which is presented at the altar weekly, and the Book of Remembrance, in which the names of departed loved ones may be written.

New Member Classes
